What kind of degree do you need to design the interior of jet aircraft used in commercial airlines?

I want to design the interior of aircraft, everywhere from the strategouc placment of seating, lavatories, and galleys to the passenger satisfaction of design parts... is there some kind of degree that you need to get a job doing this? What is the job called??

What kind of degree do you need to design the interior of jet aircraft used in commercial airlines?
There are two "jobs" doing this.

One, is working for the manufacturers of seats, or galleys, etc designing and developing these parts.

The other is creating what we call LOPA (Location of Passenger Amenities) drawings, which essentially tells the techs which part number seats to install, what the seat pitch is at each row, where the monuments go (galleys, lavs, etc).

Both of these jobs require an engineering degree.

*Edit*

Andy - The FAA does not make STC's, they approve them. They are created by the STC HOLDER, that would be the company that designed the part or seat, or whatever. That is the JOB that this person wants to know about.
Reply:Not sure, something in interior designing can help, I can give you a list of companies that do aircraft interiors and maybe one of them can help you.

Good Luck.
Reply:actually none. all you would need is a STC from the FAA in order to place whatever you designed into a plane. then you can market it to whomever. (STC= Supplemental Type Certificate). without an aerospace degree or some kind of engineering degree, good luck finding someone who'll actually buy it before it's ever actually been used.
