How many times do you have to design anything before you are happy with it ?

As a web designer or graphic designer, do you have a creative block, or do you have to design and redesign before you come up with something that is usable ? Do you have to warm up your brain before you start designing ?

I find it relatively easy to come up with a visual representation of anything, but I also find that the more time I have to work on a thing, the better it gets.
Reply:It's not so much that I design and then redesign when building websites; it's an iterative process. I sketch out an outline of what I think I might want a site to look like, then I do another, and another. As I go, I find which elements seem to be working for me -- say, the basic layout from one sketch, the colors from another, the header block from yet another -- and I start to piece them together. I only "redesign" at this very early stage. Once I've settled on a solid concept, I basically just refine it. It a process of evolution, not of ditching everything and starting over. I just try something, and if it works, I keep it.
Reply:I'll have a brain storming session before starting. But will have to make several alteration and touch up before i can rest
Reply:only once.
Reply:Answer: Until I like it.

It could be finished the first try or the 27th try.
