How do Stencils work for painting walls? Should I just try freehand design for my home office?

I am not an artist, but I want to do something radical with my home office and use red and orange and yellow on the walls with some sort of design, not just stripes. Any ideas?

If you can get your hands on a projector, you can use any image you want w/o the stencil as you'll be able to trace the design projected onto the wall and make it whatever you want it to be.

If you choose to make your own stencil, get some painting masking tape, some good poster board %26amp; an exacto knife.

Draw your design on the posterboard or something equally sturdy and use the exacto to precisely cut out your design - tape it onto the wall and start your painting.

If using more than one stencil in the same area, wait until the wall has completely dried before taping up another stencil over it.

Since you are wanting to use different colors, make a stencil to use for each color. They will have to fit together like a puzzle when on the wall so you may want to use one piece of poster board as the main outline of the design. Cut that up and trace the parts onto separate boards and cut those out so they all measure the same %26amp; line up where you want them to.

Good luck!
Reply:totally depends on what you want..

and what you like as "radical"

You could do tribal, that would look "radical" haha.

it depends on what you decide,

if you can find a stencil that has a design you like, then obviously do that...

if you want something simple, and you can draw a line,

then attempt to do it yourself
