Starting a small business takes a lot of courage. But, as they say, courage does not pay the bills. To be successful – to stay in business – you need more than courage. You need a combination of hard work, skill, perseverance, and lots of luck.

Some things you need to consider:

- "How can I support my family while I build up by business?"

- "What are my abilities?"

- "Is there a market for the product or service I have chosen?"

- "How long will it take this business to reach the financial goal I have?"

You may want to read the article "How to Start a New Business Successfully" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol51/launch... , which lists six steps to launch a new business successfully:

1. Provide a benefit.

2. Determine the fit with your market.

3. Right timing is everything

4. Be ready to support your business

5. Develop a blueprint for success

6. Market, market, market

Start by researching the business and preparing your business plan. Here are some resources on starting a web/graphic design business

Reply:1) Make an amazing web site describing all the services you offer.

2) Talk to family, friends and anyone else you meet about making them a web site.

3) If possible find someone over 18 to sell websites for you for a percentage.

Sadly at 15, businesses won't take you seriously. So make an awesome web site and then get someone to sell web sites to people. Many people just want a very simple site that explains their business. They will expect to pay less than $1000 for such a site. But once you have one client and do a good job, your reputation will spread. Good luck. I've made around $30,000 over the past few years making simple web sites on the side. It is a great way to make some extra money, or probably a great way to make a living if you can find enough clients.

Reply:Prepare a portfolio of the websites you have already created. The easiest way to do this is through your own site with links to the other sites. You can register through a freelance directory such as guru.com or elance.com. In many cases the entire project will be conducted via email and the end customer will not necessarily know that you are 15. Keep in mind that you will be dealing with business professionals who will expect you to operate with the same maturity and professionalism.

Reply:I'm no expert mind you, but seems to me age has nothing to do with creativity or innovative designs. With that being said, if I were interested in starting that type of business, I would use the web to show your stuff....

1st -Design your business website, showing all the capabilities that you have to offer.

2 -Contact a provider, not as an individual but rather as a small business. Call directly if need be to see what they can offer as assistance or are willing to do to sweeten the pot.

3 -You need to advertise of course, and what better place then on the web!!

Just remember to captivate your audience. Hope this has been helpful.
