How promising is the graphic design field in terms of jobs?Is it worth Time and money getting a degree for it?

I already have a bachelors degree and I got a chance to get familiar with Photoshop/Image ready/Illustrator/Flash and I really liked it. I am not able to find a job in my own field (OMIS) and thinking to get a certification in Graphic Design field. Do you know if it is worth to spend 2-3 years and the money? I already have tried to get a job in the GD field as either an intern or a low entry level but no luck by now. Does the certificate help?

One of my friends is graduating with a bachelors in GD and she is having trouble finding a job with a nice amount of money that is close to home.. We live in suburbs of a bigger city, but not huge... I think her problem is that she won't move away and that her degree is not good enough. You should go for the certificate, it will help in the long run. It will let prospective employers see that you have drive and determination in the field. Also, after you get your degree, send your resume to as many places as possible in a bigger city like NYC, LA, Chicago...etc. It will help, but you do have to start small. Maybe gain experience with an internship while you take classes to get your certificate. Good luck!!!
