Do you need a degree in Interior design to become an interior designer?

Do you need a degree in Interior design to become an interior designer?
Degrees are not necessary in most professions, however it's usually the door opener or invitation and it will definitely give you an advantage over the competition.

However, if you are absolutely brilliant in what you do, actions speak louder than words. Basically build a very strong portfolio, one which you can show and be proud of. In lots of design industries, portfolios will speak louder than a degree, so it's definitely not a hopeless cause.

Just stay on top of your game and visit various interior design communities online to gain more knowledge and inspiration.

Reply:No, but it might give your resume a little more clout. Just take a few classes if you don't want to go to the time or expense of getting your full degree.
Reply:No, but it helps get your foot in the door. If you don't want to go to school, you'll hit a point where you can no longer advance; unless you open your own shop. Try working in a paint studio such as Sherwin Williams (or similar), or in an upholstery shop. That will put you in touch with other designers who may be looking for help.
Reply:you know, these days it all about documents if you have no documents no one will take you seriously.so just take a few months course in designing and you have something to proof and people will take you seriously.
Reply:Build a portfolio of design sketches. If you've decorated your own house or others, take photos of that. Evidence of skill makes up for lack of formal training.
Reply:You actually need to have paasion for this area... which you do.. So, i dont thnk you need a degree.. you can do it as a hobby in your free time.. think of tht
