I've been asked to design a menu for a local restaurant and I need to know what to charge. I've thought about letting him pay in gift certificates since he's just starting out, but again, how much is fair? I figure it will take me about 5 hours to complete with occational updates.

What to charge for restaurant menu design?
A barter using gift certificates for his resturant is a great idea. Tell him that you will charge him $x per hour in cash or he can pay you $X (10% or 15% more than the cash) is gift certificates. Sometimes you have to do stuff like this to help the startups and it all works out in the end.
