What should i major in if i want to design houses and buildings?

I want to go to school for architecture but i dont know what courses i should take. i really want to be able to design houses, building, even furniture.

What should i major in if i want to design houses and buildings?
Civil Engineering, minor in physics,

Architect,

or that software program. Can't remember it.
Reply:It depends. I think you mean architecture. Architecture would allow you to design buildings and houses from a technical and artistic perspective.

Civil Engineering would involve you in that design from a tech perspective.

Interior Design would allow you to work on interiors from an artistic perspective.

The software program that the other poster mentioned is AutoCAD. You'd learn that as part of the above programs, or you can simply go to school for an associates in drafting, and work as an architectural drafter. But you wouldn't really be doin the actual design if you did that - you'd just be doing the renderings. So I don't think that's what you're askign about.

Furniture design is usually a separate field. That can often be found as that major, specifically, usually as part of an art department. You can also find it under product design, although that's sometimes art, sometimes engineering. You can also specialise in wood, or metal, etc. But a lot of people who study architecture or interior design also design furniture, on the side. You can major in, say, interior design, and also take some furniture design classes - perhaps even minor in it, if it's offered.
Reply:Your best bet is to make an appointment with your school advisor so, they can give you more information. The questions you should ask yourself is if you want to design buildings or go into interior design? They are two very different things. Sit in on these two classes at your school to get a better picture of what your getting into before you enter the classroom.

Good Luck!!
