What can I use to clear coat a design I painted on a stone?

Looking for something durable, as this is to preserve a design I'm painting on stones.

What can I use to clear coat a design I painted on a stone?
My favorite clear-coat (gloss) is a good poly-urethane spray... Testors Gloss Coat for example.





For something SIMPLE... try liquid floor wax (Future) !! I use it on model aircraft windows / canopies.





What ever product you use, TEST it first on a stone you're willing to lose to see if the product reacts witht the paint you've used on the stones !!!
Reply:Good old polyurethane spray. If they'll be staying inside, wallpaper paste is a cheap fixative.
Reply:You might try a clear driveway sealant or pool sealant.


These products are often expensive-over $100.00 per pail. A visit to one of the services contractors may allow you to purchase a small sample. Seems like alot of extra effort but if the rocks are outside they'll need superior proctection from the elements. Your art work is worth the protection.
Reply:you can do lots of stones and then get 50 coat topping at Michaels arts and crafts. put the stones on some screening suspended over a bucket or lots of paper and plastic, then you just pour the coating over the stone and let it dry. you can use clear acrylic spray but it wont be as durable.
