Design for maintainability is about the same as Design for manufacturing and Design for assembly.
What is design for maintainability and its principles for engineering purpose?
Design for maintainability shall be the same as design for production but at the same time shall cater for easy maintenance and reduce the down time of the equipment, less frequency use of spare parts
Reply:Design for maintainability is the same as design for manufacturing and assembly in as much as it is a requirement to be considered during the design stage; however design for maintainability is just that; it requires the product to be easily maintained while in use.
