in my 30's. I've always had a love an appreciation for fashion design. I have so many potential ideas and designs in my head that I really would like to see come to life. Have I waited to pursue my hidden passion. What can I do about it?
Can a beginner successfully learn fashion design from an online program?
Just do it, time is not relative. I went back to school in my 30's, so far it's been rewarding. I am the same age as many of my professors, but honestly I am getting an entirely different level of education then my classmates. I have questions, so I am not leaving class until they are answered. I would think a course would be good for you. Most art schools offer part time night classes. They have a fashion department at my school. The only problem you may have training yourself in fashion is stitching. You will be required to make a book of known stitches. And doing that without a teacher may be hugely difficult. I would definitely buy a few books, take a night course.
Reply:Today is the day you take the first step in pursuing your hidden passion. You may learn a lot via an online program, but pursuing it in person may be your best bet. I wish you all the very best.
Reply:Probily not, but the time wasted is time you learned a little bit.THink of it this way, if you eat a ransid peanut when your hungry your not eating something you want, your eating something nasty and it doesn't help you. but if you eat a good peanut it benifits you. Therefore you should take classes offline it will benifit you the most like the good peanut.
Reply:To become a successful designer, you need to be knowledgeable in the art of garment construction. If you know how to push a needle through fabric and if you know how to use a sewing machine, then you are ahead of the game. Fashion designing is a mental process because you have to dream up a design, and the end product is the fabrication. If you can create at least 10 garments, you can co-ordinate your own fashion show. You can make it an annual event. You can invite store owners and or their buyers to the show. You can tote the show as "one of a kind" fashions and that would the end of it. But if you take orders than you would have to hire seamstresses or farm out the work to a manufacturer. You can submit your designs to a "House", but you better have raw samples. As with anything, the possibilities are endless.
