I am interested in going back to school to obtain a web design degree. How do I know this is right for me?
How do I know if web design is the right career for me?
The best way was pointed out to you by the previous poster. This is all there is with web design.
I use frontpage and notepad. Making actual pages is easy, php is what's often behind them to make them work lol. Coding can be dreary and I am not even a coder, just messing with it. Either you like it or not.
However another fun way is to take career aptitude tests like this one http://www.job--listings.info/free-aptit... and if you are lucky at the end they might even offer you a job, in any case they'll tell you what suits your own personality, based on the test you took.
there might be a few more tests here http://www.job--listings.info/
hope I helped, cheers
Reply:Simple, go pick up a book on web design or two and try it out for yourself. It is pretty easy to pick up. You may want to focus on one aspect of web development in particular at first such as XHTML, HTML, PHP, etc..., but their are also books that provide well rounded overall looks at web design.
If you want a free place to start, check out www.w3schools.com.
After you try it out for a bit and determine if you like it, then you will know better if you want to go to school.
Reply:The internet is by far the best human invention of the 20th centry, there us always a big demand for webdesigners, millions of companies have learned that presence on the net is a must. that's why there is a huge market out there for webdesigners.
