The separation of powers is one of the check and balance of the constitution. It was designed to avoid corruption and make sure that all three powers of the different branches of the government will not be held by just one person oppose to monarchy of the old days.
Reply:I guess they were tired of having a king that had all the power.
Reply:To separate power and not allow one branch or one person in the government to have too much power and become tyrannical like the British had been previously.
Reply:Common Sense.

The book was published prior to the Constitution. Written by Thomas Paine, 'Common Sense' helped stear men toward a functional form of government.

The Founding Fathers prayed a lot more that we do today. They sought, and received, guidance from above.

With branches which are separate but equal, the framers placed powers in different areas. It takes two to Tango. Two branches must concur in order for action to be initiated and continued.

By dividing the powers, the framers protected us from Lord Acton's dictum, as stated by the 'old man' above.
Reply:King George
Reply:Because they knew and had witnesses that "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
