I just started graphic design school, and I'll eventually need to purchase a laptop. What kind should I get? I need one that's not extremely expensive, but still a very good laptop that will last a good while.
What kind of laptop should I purchase for graphic design?
the new macbook air, it's sweet

Reply:If you insist on having a PC get a higher end Dell Xps. Other than that MAC is the way to go, always has been and always will be. you can get a sweet mac for under $1,500. but a $1,000 will do just fine for graphic design.
Reply:For graphics design, Mac is the way to go. Now I'm not a Mac user, but I have used them in the past, and they seem to be the best thing going for graphics.
Reply:I hear macbooks are good for that.
Reply:You will first need to find out what graphic design software you will be running, then find the most affordable laptop that meets the suggested hardware requirements for the software.
Reply:I would go with a hp.. for graphic design there are two components you need to have which is fairly highend..
- The video card
- The memory
- The cpu

Reply:You won't beat a Mac for graphic design, the Mac was designed for that, it will cost a bit more but well worth it for what your going to be using it for, hope that helps and good luck.
Reply:What is your price range? Laptop is always more expensive than a desktop. Desktop runs faster than a laptop and also more powerful. Once you figure out what you are able to afford, you can choose iMac, Dell, HP, Fujisu, etc.
Your basic requirement should consist of: 2gb RAM, 160gb+ HD, DVD burner, and 256mb dedicated Video.
A Toshiba brand at about $750 (on sales at Office Depot Toshiba Satellite® P205D-S8802 17" Widescreen Notebook Computer With AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60) will probably be okay, if you are tight with money.
You will also need design software along with it.
